Simon 7 founder of Nature Beat Music and band DIDJWORKS hails from Melbourne Australia and has lived in NYC for over 14 years. After working as a guitarist/songwriter in Europe and the US for many years rediscovered the DIDJERIDOO on a return trip, and has been mesmerizing audiences with its rich earthy trancelike sound ever since.
Didjworks as well as participating regularly with the Music Under New York program has also performed at Woodstock 95, Alvin Ailey dance concerts, Wendy Perrons Downtown Underground, Andrea Marcovicci at the Symphony Space, Lincoln Center Outdoors, Bang on a Can with the Cassatt Quartet Alice Tully Hall, Nation public radios New Sounds, Garrison Keillors Prairie Home Companion, BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) and many other plays and club performances. Simon is also a member of the band MECCA BODEGA who performed in and recorded the soundtrack to HBOs SUBWAY STORIES and have performed many club dates, festivals and toured the US and Australia. |

Simon is also heard on 3 Albums with Mecca Bodega including a live CD recorded at the Celebrate Brooklyn Festival, and Mike Mainiers The Dreamings and many other soundtracks and TV commercials. Having collaborated in many musical genres, the Didjeridoo has proven its appeal reaches far beyond its ancient tribal beginnings, 40,000 years ago as a ceremonial and healing instrument of the Australian Aboriginal. Made from a tree branch thats been eaten hollow by nesting termites, the bark is stripped off and then painted with traditional dreamtime symbols, and is played with a special technique called circular breathing. |
